From Buda to Pest – My Stylish Guide to Budapest

From Buda to Pest – My Stylish Guide to Budapest

From Buda to Pest, here I am again with my Stylish Guide to Budapest in hand. After six years, I’m exploring Budapest once more. This city has been on my “come back” list since my very first trip. The last time I visited, the rain followed me everywhere (read one of my earlier blog posts about Budapest here). So I wanted to return to enjoy this amazing city without the rain. This time, the sunshine did not disappoint.

So, what are the hidden gems of Budapest? Why is this city loved by so many travellers around the world? Here is my stylish guide to Budapest and the unique charm that makes this city unforgettable.

These days, I find myself enjoying each city mostly by wandering through the streets, exploring the suburbs, indulging in the local culinary scene, and soaking up the vibe and luxury each place has to offer. With so many tourists crowding the main attractions, getting in anywhere can be a hassle, so I prefer to spend my days living like a local, searching for the hidden gems.

And on a personal note, I’m thrilled to share that Sweettravelbee has won the Luxury Travel Blog 2025 Award. Thank you all so much for the love and support! I would also recommend to read my luxury visit to Vienna – one of the most stylish cities in Europe.

My Stylish Guide to Budapest

From the day I booked my luxury stay in Budapest, I knew it was going to be a great trip! The weather forecast looked perfect and the Four Seasons Gresham Palace confirmed my reservation. The hidden gems of Budapest were waiting to be explored.

Budapest has so much to offer! From hilly Buda (the royal seat and later a prominent city) to flat Pest (a centre of trade and culture), the two sit on opposite sides of the Danube. They were united in 1873 to form the modern city of Budapest.

Whether you visit Buda Castle or Castle Hill, you’ll discover that the hidden gems of Budapest reveal themselves best on foot. And that suits me. From my hotel room balcony, I could map out my walking tour with ease. What a view!

Staying at the iconic Four Seasons Gresham Palace certainly added to my unforgettable experience in Hungary’s capital. It was the perfect beginning to my stylish guide to Budapest. I walked a lot, discovered incredible restaurants, tried traditional Hungarian goulash, and enjoyed the local wines. I still remember falling in love with Hungarian wines during my trip back in 2019. Read here for more.

P.S. It was actually great to do a lot of walking after my party time with family. It was certainly needed!

Festival Day in Budapest

Adding to my stylish guide to Budapest, I had no idea I would be here during one of the city’s biggest festivals: St. Stephen’s Day. This is one of Hungary’s most important national holidays. The festivities were in full swing during my stay. From the spectacular jet flyover to vibrant art markets, live music, and dazzling fireworks, it made my trip even more special. For me, that was the hidden gem of my trip.

One thing I missed out on, mainly because I’m not a professional diver (although I have dived in the past – read here), was the Dive of the Future. I came across it when I read up on the city. If you are a diver, I would certainly add it to the list of hidden gems. It should be on your must-do list when you visit Budapest.

As for me, after shopping in Vienna, partying with my family in Poland, and enjoying delicious food and drinks in Budapest, I’m glad to be back home again. It was an amazing road trip! While wrapping up this trip, I am already planning the next one. So stay tuned. xx
