Hello from Thailand! Just over 6 months ago I left Nai Harn Beach in Phuket just as Thailand started to shut down. Now, I am back here, just in time for its re-openening. And I must say, it is nice to be back.
The overall flight and arrival in Phuket was much easier than in 2020, although, back then, I arrived in Bangkok first, straight into quarantine. This time, however, I came back to a place I already know and love, so it was definitely a better experience.
I settled into my daily Nai Harn Beach routine pretty easily. Unpacking, grocery shopping, swimming in the ocean and saying hi to my friends. Coming from a country where European winter was fast approaching, I adjusted to the 30 degrees and 80% humidity surprisingly quickly. But, who wouldn’t?!
Nai Harn Beach Phuket
Sitting south of Phuket Island, Nai Harn Beach is a quiet, compact beach area and village, with a mix of locals, sports fanatics and families. It is always a great atmosphere here. Even on quiet days.
I already wrote about the best of Nai Harn Beach in my previous blog posts (read here), when I was here earlier this year.
And it is still pretty stunning!
Furthermore, as the borders slowly reopen to tourists, it is certainly busier than I remember. More restaurants are open, the beaches are fuller and scooters running around everywhere. That said, it was more peaceful without all the traffic here, but I know the businesses and restaurants are happy to have clients again. After all, Nai Harn Beach has been waiting for a long time.
As for me…
For now, I shall continue to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle here. Hang out with my friends, swim, SUP at Yanui Beach, run and cruise around on the scooter. Winter jackets are already forgotten. Bring on the heat!
And maybe, but just maybe, I will make a trip to Bangkok at some stage. But then again, why go to a hectic, busy city when you have Nai Harn Beach Phuket instead.
And then there is still the Big Buddha I have to visit. But more to that next time! xx
