I can hardly believe I’m writing this from the Maldives! I never imagined I would make it here, but when my friend spontaneously suggested booking a flight, I couldn’t resist. who knew it was only around four and a half hours from Bangkok? Of course, if you’re going to experience the Maldives, you might as well do it properly! So here we are, soaking up the beauty of the incredible Raffles Maldives Meradhoo Resort.
If paradise means staying at a luxury resort in the Maldives, surrounded by turquoise water, white sand, and endless ocean views, then we have certainly found it at Raffles Maldives.

How did we get here?
Travelling from Thailand to the Maldives initially seemed quick and easy, and I was beyond excited. With 1,190 islands and more than 170 resorts to choose from, my friend and I spent hours exploring different locations and accommodation options.
Eventually, we agreed that if we were going to experience the Maldives, we wanted to do it properly. That decision led us to Raffles Maldives, a stunning retreat located far south of Malé and its international airport. It looked like the perfect luxury resort in the Maldives. But would it be worth the complicated journey?
What initially appeared to be a short trip turned into a journey of nearly 16 hours. It began at 3:30 a.m. when I left my home in Phuket. After unexpected delays and long waits in Malé, we still had to take another one-hour flight followed by a 20-minute speedboat ride to reach Raffles Maldives.
By then, we couldn’t help wondering: would this dream destination really be worth all the effort? After all, it was just another beach, wasn’t it? And Phuket has plenty of those!
But…
…
Well, let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. The moment we arrived at Raffles Maldives, we forgot all about the travel hassles. By the next day, when we finally saw where we had landed in daylight, we were completely in awe. Wow!
P.S. There is a quicker way to reach the resort, however a private seaplane wasn’t in our budget this time. Maybe next time?

Activities at Raffles Maldives
From snorkelling and stand-up paddling to fishing and kayaking, there’s no shortage of activities at Raffles Maldives Resort. And while we skipped the pricey boat excursions, we did embark on a spontaneous fishing trip to catch our own dinner (which was absolutely delicious). We enjoyed stand-up paddling, and spent countless hours snorkelling. And trust me, that alone was more than enough to keep us happy.
I’ve never seen such an incredible underwater world. In the Raffles house reef, there is vibrant and colourful fish everywhere, making every swim feel like an adventure. How did these fish manage to be so bright and beautiful? There are so many colours, prints and patterns amongst them.
But it wasn’t just the small and colourful marine life that amazed me. In just three days, while snorkelling, I encountered turtles, massive stingrays, baby sharks, and even a grey reef shark. I freaked out when it came super close to me. I haven’t seen anything like this before. Egypt was quite similar but still not the same. Although I hadn’t been this mesmerised by marine life since then. The house reef at the Raffles Maldives is certainly another level. Incredible. And the fact that we could enjoy it from our villa, added to this already amazing experience.

And so…
The rest of our stay? Well, I’ll let the photos do the talking—and there are plenty of them! Our short escape at this luxury resort in the Maldives was pure indulgence. Of course, you can visit the Maldives on a budget, but we wanted to embrace the full luxury experience. Life is too short!
When the time came to leave Raffles Maldives, I couldn’t help feeling sad. The entire trip felt like a true pinch-me experience, filled with unforgettable moments. Sharing the adventure with my friend made it even more memorable, but the wonderful Raffles team also played a big part. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and attentive, making our stay feel incredibly special.
One thing is certain: I’ll be back! Raffles Maldives is located in a truly beautiful part of the world. x
