My trip back to Brisbane – what a fun time!

My trip back to Brisbane – what a fun time!

So, after 5 years of traveling and a crazy pandemic it was time for me to return to Brisbane, my hometown of 13 years. I couldn’t wait and neither could my friends. It was time for 10 days with my girls! So, this is more a personal blog about a fun trip rather than the places I visited. I hope you don’t mind. But I promise the photos are great!

My life in Brisbane

I love Brisbane. I was always more drawn to the small, sleepy town feeling of Brisbane than the metropolises of Sydney and Melbourne. When I arrived in Brisbane with my backpack and a one way ticket back in 2005 I was ready to settle in. And settling in I did! I met amazing people, lived in various suburbs, renovated Queenslanders and built an amazing fashion and interior styling business.

It was only after 13 years living in Brisbane, in 2017, when my mum was getting sick back in Germany, that I decided to return to Europe. It wasn’t an easy decision but it felt right at that time. As one door closes and another opens, I was able to spend the last 5 years traveling the world and explore lots of amazing countries and places. As you can see from my travel blog here.

My return …

Originally I was planning to return to Brisbane a few years ago but then the pandemic hit. Hence, a few years became 5 years since I left and came back to Brisbane. As you might imagine, my 10 day schedule was pretty full. So what did I do?

From some fun shopping days, a trip to the Gold Coast to plenty of fancy dinners and spending valuable time with friends, being back in Brisbane felt like I never left. That said, it took me a few days to get my bearings amongst the roads and suburbs. But I felt at home straight away.

Brisbane has changed a little bit in the past five years and it has become an even greater city to visit. The city sky line at night, the Story Bridge and the green suburbs with amazing views, Brisbane has lots to offer. Not to mention the shopping in James Street and the city. It might not have the tourist spots like the Opera House in Sydney, but it is a spectacular city nevertheless. It was fun exploring Brisbane as a visitor.

Unfortunately I didn’t make it to Noosa or Byron Bay, nor managed to swim in the ocean, but I will be back for sure!

Leaving …

Saying goodbye to my friends after the 10 days wasn’t easy, although it felt like I was going to see them next week anyway. But the world is small these days. And now, that traveling is easier again, I hope to meet up with everybody all over the world. Wherever the journey will take us. Not to mention that I am already thinking about my next trip to Brisbane. Let’s hope it will be sooner than in 5 years time?!? xx
