Yes, I came back the Big Apple New York! Who would have thought I’d be in New York twice in one year? But here I am again. This trip felt different from the first, not only because I was already familiar with New York’s streets, but also because I returned in the fall. I started out in winter coats, but each day got warmer… it was an amazing week in New York all over again!
And let me tell you, the second bite of the Big Apple was just as thrilling as the first! As soon as the cab was nearing Manhattan, I knew I was home. I revisited some of the same iconic spots (how could I skip Times Square?) but also took time to explore new streets and corners. I love New York, or should I say Manhattan? Even after two trips, I still haven’t ventured beyond it. There’s just so much to discover!

New York Manhattan
The architecture remains one of my favorite things about Manhattan. Each building has its own character, yet they all blend seamlessly into the city’s unique skyline.
Then, of course, there’s the shopping and dining. From the distinctive shops in SOHO to the upscale bars and restaurants on the Upper East Side, Manhattan has a vibe all its own. I strolled the High Line (a former rail trail converted into a passenger walkway), browsed every antique shop I could find, and enjoyed the city in its beautiful fall season.
Were there more tourists than back in July when I came with my friend? Hard to say. It was still as bustling, hectic, and loud as ever, exactly what you’d expect from New York.
So, after a week of walking, feeling like I had explored nearly every corner of Manhattan, I decided to take a boat tour on my last day. Yes, it’s a bit touristy, but the sun was shining, and I wanted to see the island from a fresh perspective.

The Boat trip
It was the perfect late October day for a boat trip. Ideally, I would have loved to sail along the Hudson River to explore some of the charming towns beyond Manhattan. But since this was a last-minute decision and many trips were already booked out, I settled on a 1.5-hour cruise on the beautiful sailing ship, The Clipper City (find more details here). After all, I like sailing, so I might as well sail in New York.
The trip was a blast. Thomas, the boat’s owner, made a fantastic host. With upbeat music, quality drinks, and the Statue of Liberty up close, my visit to Big Apple New York felt truly complete. I can now say I’ve seen Manhattan in all its glory this year! It might be some time before I return…but then again, who knows?
For now, I’m off to a new country, just a short flight from New York! Can you guess?
