Spring in Germany – waiting for the sunshine

Spring in Germany – waiting for the sunshine

I have been back from my Italy trip almost one month now and have spent April mainly in Germany. I must admit It has been quite relaxing. Spring in Germany can be quite nice, however, without making this blog all about the weather, at the moment I am sitting inside, waiting for the sunshine to come back again.

Because riding my bike in Oberfranken has become my main activity and I can‘t do it while it is raining.

Riding my bike in Oberfranken

My training on my bicycle is going very well. I think I am improving. When I started a few weeks ago, a 20km trip seemed a like a long way. Now I am up to 70km trips and doing fine.

Obefranken, Fichtelgebirge, where my dad lives, is a little bit hillier than I would prefer but at least my legs are getting stronger. In addition, the scenery and landscape is just beautiful! After many years in Australia I missed out on the four seasons but Spring in Germany can be very scenic.

The sunny days

During my days off from riding I made a few short trips that were fun as well. Karlovy Vary and Prague are always great to visit and close by. I like walking the streets of either of those towns. See my previous post here.

A trip to Munich was also long overdue. There is no better way to enjoy Munich then catching up with great friends at a Biergarten. I lived in Munich for 5 years and so I never feel like a tourist there. Maybe that is why I haven‘t created a post about this amazing city yet?
Either that or I keep getting bad weather (except that one afternoon) so the photos do not really turn out very well. Ah well, just another excuse to go back!

Waiting for sunshine

Same time last year I was in Croatia starting my first decent Europe trip. This year I am here, at my dad’s, waiting for the sunshine. I am sure the sunny days will come! Won‘t they?

As I am writing this blog I checked my weather app twice already. The next few days look a little bit more promising and I might be riding my bike in Oberfranken again. Hopefully. Oh well, I guess that is Spring in Germany!
