The Wedding & the Party Boat

The Wedding & the Party Boat

My life in Phuket is pretty simple and casual and my wardrobe certainly reflects it. Alternating between a basic shorts/top look and a beach dress, there is no need for heels and pretty dresses here in Nai Harn. Except when you are invited to a wedding. How exciting! The wedding celebration was at the Trisara Resort in Surin, followed by a party boat trip on the second day. This was going to be a great weekend.

Not to mention that I finally managed to go further north on Phuket Island, to Surin, than just to the IKEA store.

The Wedding

All dressed up and ready to go there was no way I would go up to Surin on a scooter. It wasn’t the day for ‘helmet hair’. So I organised myself a taxi. Arriving at the Trisara Resort I could already tell it would be an amazing wedding. The location and the decorations were stunning and the bride absolutely beautiful. Love was in the air.

There is little to write about a wedding, except that there was delicious food, great music, nice people and lots of dancing. Of course you can’t have a tropical location without some rain (every hour or so) but, as the night went on, nobody seemed too bothered. Apparently rain on your wedding day brings good luck.

The hours went by quickly and so, after a bit more dancing, the first day celebration was done. I was ready for a good night sleep to continue the second part on the private charter boat the next day.

The Private Party Boat

I have seen them around. Those big boats, cruising along Yanui and Nai Harn beach, playing loud music and people dancing. I didn’t really think I would be ever be on one of them, but here I was, on a party boat! And what a fun trip it was!

Docked in Chalong, the LOBSTER Party Boat was ready for us all around lunch time. Approx 50 people, there was a mix of friends from the Bride & Groom, some who didn’t attend the wedding, as well as the rest of us. And I suspect a few hangovers from the night before.

The LOBSTER Yacht was certainly one of the biggest private charter boats I have been out and about on. Except for the big ferry that took me from Stockholm to Estonia back in 2018 (read it here) or the English Channel Ferry (read post here), although they were not private boats. This charter yacht had its very own bar, a DJ, lots of seating space, a dance floor and lots of staff who made sure that we were happy guests. What else do you need?

…..

While we settled in inside, the boat was heading straight to the Coral Island (Déjà vu anyone? I was there only a few weeks ago…read here ).

Once we arrived, and the toys have been let out into the water, there was no stopping us. We even had a water slide, which the boys seem to enjoy a lot! Everybody was relaxed and having fun. I snorkelled around for a little bit (the coral here is amazing), and relaxed on the floating bed, before heading inside for a delicious lunch buffet. What a fun afternoon. The water was stunning!

As the day went by, the party atmosphere grew and the poses for the photos got sillier. I met some great people from all over the world.

By the time we headed towards the famous Yanui/Nai Harn spot to watch the sunset, I felt like I was one of them, the girl dancing on a big party boat, enjoying a great Sunday afternoon, waving at the people on the other boats. Awesome!

I must say I am getting quite used to those amazing private boat trips! Anyone else a fan? xx
