Ljubljana – the capital of Slovenia

Ljubljana – the capital of Slovenia

This morning I got up and had my morning routine. Coffee, made with my new coffee machine I bought, and toast with avo. The weather was perfect so I did the final walk around the Lake Bled, before leaving to head towards the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. Lake Bled was great and this part of Slovenia definitely impressed me. I wonder how the capital is going to be?

I heard so much about this city. Being the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana has universities, parks (Tivoli Park), a castle on top of a hill (of course) and a river with lots of tiny bridges and cafes alongside. It reminds me a bit of Venice and Amsterdam. The vibe in Ljubljana is great, especially on a sunny gorgeous day.

As I arrived a bit early for check-in, I went for a walk to explore the city first. And I finally got my ice cream. The very first one in Europe and the very first one, since forever (at least it feels like it). (Although I had no idea that a few weeks later, in Croatia, a particular ice cream wouldn’t be so great for me.. read here). But here, in Ljubljana, at that moment, there was no better ice cream than that one. The Europeans do it best!

Now (3pm) it is resting time in the hotel room, Galeria Rooms, which is a great place to stay in. Spacious and clean and very close to city centre.

Because when you travel you don‘t always know what accommodation you are going to get, so you learn to appreciate the good ones xx (and trust me, there have been a few bad ones already)

Afterword, March 2020

When looking back at my trip to Ljubljana it is a shame I didn’t take more photos of this gorgeous city. But I was new to travelling. I also didn’t think that two years later, my blog would have grown that much. In addition, I have fond memories of Slovenia and Ljubljana. Especially Ljubljana has been on my list, to go back to. So when I do, I will take more photos for you. Promise!
