I first visited Dubrovnik eight years ago while driving through Eastern Europe on a two-month road trip. Returning this year made me realise just how much my travel style has changed. Instead of travelling by car, this time it was a quick flight from Baden-Baden for a few relaxing days exploring Dubrovnik and the stunning Dubrovnik Riviera. It also turned out to be the perfect destination for another unforgettable catch up with my friends. After all, our meeting in Naples & Charleston feels so long ago already!
So, what are the best things to do in Dubrovnik beyond the famous city walls?
While Dubrovnik’s Old Town is just as impressive, and as busy as I remembered, this trip was less about being a tourist. After all, I’d already walked the city walls and kayaked to the caves during my first visit. This time, it was all about experiencing the luxury side of Dubrovnik and discovering everything the Dubrovnik Riviera has to offer.
In fact, from a leisurely day trip to Cavtat to an unforgettable luxury boat cruise, these four days reminded me exactly why I fell in love with Croatia in the first place.

Dubrovnik City – best places to stay and dine
I stayed at the beautiful Villa Dubrovnik, perched above the Adriatic Sea just minutes from Dubrovnik’s Old Town. From the moment I arrived, I understood why it’s considered one of the best luxury hotels in Dubrovnik. Everything about this hotel and the stay felt magical. From the Michelin-starred breakfast and relaxing afternoons by the pool to sunset cocktails at the rooftop bar overlooking the coastline, it was the perfect place to unwind and experience luxury at its finest.

As I spent most of my time exploring the surrounding coastline on day trips (more on those below), the only time I really ventured into Dubrovnik’s Old Town was in the evenings to enjoy its exceptional restaurant scene. The dining options have certainly come a long way over the past eight years. Choosing where to eat wasn’t easy, but one thing was certain. It had to be a table with a view of the Adriatic Sea. One very important tip: I’d definitely recommend booking restaurants well in advance, especially during the summer months.
My all-time favourite, the elegant fine-dining restaurant Nautika. From its stunning terraces, the view is absolutely incredible. Furthermore, the food is outstanding, the service impeccable, and the setting simply unforgettable. It was definitely a magical evening spent with amazing friends.

Luxury Boat Trip
Of course, no trip to Croatia is complete without getting out on the water. One of the absolute highlights of our trip was spending the day on a boat. With so many boat tours and yacht charters available in Dubrovnik, I did plenty of research before deciding to rent a luxury yacht with Rewind Boat. And it turned out to be the perfect choice.
From the moment we stepped on board, everything felt effortless and luxurious. The attentive crew made sure every detail was taken care of, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy the breathtaking Croatian coastline. For a whole day, we cruised along the coast, swimming in crystal-clear waters and discovering hidden bays. Moreover, we admired Dubrovnik from a completely different perspective.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable luxury experience in Dubrovnik, a day on the water should be at the top of your itinerary.

Cavtat Day Trip
If you feel like exploring beyond Dubrovnik, I highly recommend driving along the coastline to the beautiful seaside town of Cavtat, just a short drive away. I would have loved to make it all the way to Split, but it was a little too far for a day trip. As it turned out, Cavtat was the perfect alternative. If there is no traffic on the roads, that is.
I really enjoyed this charming coastal town. The picturesque waterfront lined with cafes and restaurants it is the ideal place for a walk and a nice light lunch. Compared to Dubrovnik, Cavtat has a much more relaxed atmosphere, not to mention definitely less crowds. So definitely worth a visit.
One thing is certain, every day of this trip was completely different, and every day was time well spent. There is certainly lots of different things to do in Dubrovnik.
Your paragraph is already warm and engaging. Here’s a slightly more polished version with improved flow:
I had, as always, an amazing time with my friends. We spent four wonderful days dining, enjoying a few drinks, laughing, and exploring together. This part of Europe is truly spectacular. I absolutely love Croatia, and I know I’ll be back. This time, though, I’m sure I won’t wait another eight years.
