I am back in Hamburg. It has been a while since I was here last, and once again Hamburg didn’t disappoint. What a lovely time I had! Staying at Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Hamburg made my visit even more special. It was elegant, comfortable and the perfect place to relax after exploring the city.
From cycling through the Elbe Tunnel to walking along the shopping streets and enjoying high-class cocktails at the hotel, it was a great trip. This time I simply came to enjoy a few days walking and cycling the streets. Not to mention attending a summer party. And for this, the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten was the perfect venue for it. Sitting quite central, it was easy to come and go as desired.
It was a wonderful luxury getaway in Hamburg. And definitely not my last! So, why is Hamburg worth a visit?

Luxury weekend in Hamburg
Well, it wasn’t actually a weekend, but a two-night getaway. I was invited to a summer party, so it was the perfect excuse to return to Hamburg. As you might expect, planning my stay at the iconic Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Hamburg was a highlight of the trip.
And honestly, I had forgotten how much I liked the city. Two nights were not very long, but enough time to revisit a few favourite places, discover something new and simply enjoy being back in Hamburg. After all, even though I love the countryside, I enjoy spending time in big cities. Especially Munich and Berlin in Germany. Read: Best of Europe in Summer.
So, is Hamburg worth a visit?
Absolutely! Hamburg is such a beautiful and lively city, with its mix of water, impressive architecture and relaxed northern atmosphere. This major port city in northern Germany is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It is crossed by hundreds of canals and filled with restaurants, high-end shops and small boutiques. And the architecture is very unique, mixing old with new.
The Inner Alster Lake is dotted with boats and surrounded by cute cafés. I really like it here. Hamburg has a different vibe from posh Munich and historic Berlin, but it is definitely worth a visit.
From the New Town to the Old Town, the best way to explore Hamburg is on foot, or by bike. For me, it was the perfect luxury getaway in Hamburg, especially with Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten right in the heart of the city.

Hamburg City – Fairmont Vier Jahreszeiten Hotel
And when it came to choosing where to stay, there was really only one obvious choice: the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Hamburg. Located directly on the Inner Alster, it is one of the city’s most iconic hotels. With its classic elegance, excellent location and wonderful service, it felt like the perfect place for my luxury Hamburg getaway.
I really enjoyed the wonderful service, and the Martini Bar quickly became my second home. The cocktails were excellent, and Mr Baker’s mixing skills were certainly impressive. It was only natural to follow them with a delicious burger at the hotel’s GRILL restaurant. For those seeking world class accommodations, Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg is an unbeatable option.
All in all, with its historic building, incredible classic style and highly professional and attentive service, the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten is definitely not to be missed when visiting Hamburg.
I also borrowed one of the hotel’s bikes to explore more of Hamburg. From enjoying views of the Elbphilharmonie to cycling through the more than 100-year-old Old Elbe Tunnel, it was such a fun afternoon. Then it was time to return to the hotel, dress up and head to a very special summer party! Without a doubt, Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Hamburg made my experience very unique.

My luxury getaway in Hamburg came to an end after two nights. It was time to catch the train back home. And although the DB might not have the best reputation these days, luckily for me, all went well on the six hour train journey. So much so, that I might do it all again next year! And when I return, I definitely book a room at Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten again. Would you agree?
